I'm sappy, I can own up to that. My sweetheart went to college today for his first time full time. I'm gonna fall to pieces when we have kids and I have to take them to school the first time!!! Anywho...because of the program he's going into, it looks like the department is supplying books internally except for 1 class so we only had to get 1 book :) Instead of using grants/loans/pocket cash to get the book, we turned to our swagbucks stockpile (as rent can't be paid in swagbucks...)
In January or February this year, we joined swagbucks and earn points various ways (surveys, free trials, etc) but mostly just by searching the internet through their toolbar. I want to get to my blog? I search it. I want to get to my email or facebook? I search them, and randomly get awarded points. There are a lot of prizes, but for every 450 points, you can get a $5 gift card to Amazon.com. We cashed in a few of these and didn't even have to pay shipping out of pocket for his school book! Traffic to Pick Up!
Well, I just quit my full time job today. Responsibly of course-I put in my 2 weeks notice and gave quality work to the last minute, but I'm glad to have that chapter of my life gone and look forward to new opportunities. I have a part time on call thing but we'll need more supplemental money from other sources. I hope to blog, craft, coupon, and make money from crafting etc more! Remember, Christmas is sooner than you think, and handmade gifts rock! Here's an example of something fun I've been working on lately and perfecting. The purple was my first and worst. The blue one is great. Handmade books-made with handmade paper, all recycled, all made by yours truly! I remembered learning how to make paper at church girl's camp when I was younger and decided to take on the challenge on a larger scale with scrap paper I have from all my couponing :D Anywho, here's some pictures of the pretties and stay tuned for more fun!!!!

Dollar Tree-Sweet Find ;)
I used to shop at the dollar store a lot. Then I got into couponing and I also realized that they don't always save you money. The price is smaller but the price per quantity usually suffers. Or some things at the $1 store are only $0.88 or similar at Walmart. But I came across an awesome deal today! I was in the cereal aisle and saw this huge box of Chocolate Cheerios-so out of place! There were several of them...it's weird. You usually can only get tiny boxes of cereal at a store like that. It is 17 ounces. I looked at Walgreen's next door and their 11.75 ounces box was $4.99!!!!! Wow....2/3 the size for 5 times the price! A grocery store or Walmart surely has a better price than $4.99, but still probably not any better than $3! Now that the Dollar Tree accepts manufacturer coupons, I plan to see if I can find one to make the sweet deal...even sweeter ;)

Then the question comes up...what if you don't use hair gel? Well I have a fun and craft idea :D Supplies are shown below! Take some ziplocs (got them on a fair deal a couple weeks back at Albertson's) and scoop some of the blue hair gel into them. This simulates water, especially with the bubbles in the gel. Then I took some scrap foam sheets-literally just pennies at a local craft store-and cut out fish shapes. Put the fish in with the gel, zip up the ziploc, and perhaps tape the top for security against messy leaks, and you've got a fun hands-on aquarium for kids! Any other ideas for hair gel?
